Best SUP Locations in NI

At Get up & Get on we more than understand the versatility of a SUP for exploration and cruising. We can arrange your paddleboarding lesson, or tour based around your own individual requirements. Weather and tide dependent, we have the luxury of visiting some of Northern Ireland’s most stunning SUP locations.

SUP at Belfast Boat Club

We are also running paddleboard lessons and nature tours from Belfast Boat Club Stranmillis. The club is in a beautiful location on the edge of the River Lagan surrounded by meadows, woodland and wildlife and is one of our favourite underrated SUP spots in Northern Ireland.

SUP at the North Coast, Portballintrae

The Causeway Coast has spectacular scenery and one hidden gem is Portballintrae an idyllic village 4 miles from Portrush. This is a quaint fishing village nestled on the edge of a horseshoe bay. The bay is sheltered and a perfect place to learn how to paddleboard. Out on the paddleboards, we can experience wildlife and marine life and if feeling confident and weather permitting we can paddle to Dunluce Castle which is stunning!

SUP on River Lagan

The River Lagan is a rambling waterway alive with heritage and nature.

It runs from County Down to Belfast where it enters Belfast Lough

We have found several perfect spots on the River Lagan to learn to paddleboard, where the river meanders through beautiful wildflower meadows and woodland where you will catch glimpses of swans and kingfishers.

Castlewellan Lake is located in a dramatic setting of the Mourne mountains. It has the stunning backdrop of the Victorian Castle built in 1856. The Lake itself is 1 mile long and a perfect place to paddleboard. It is a secluded Lake surrounded by a forest park and gardens.
